Ocean Treasures Mod: Elements, Experiments & Setup Guide

Explore the four custom materials in Ocean Treasures, learn how to load ocean_treasures.js, and try simple sandbox experiments without assuming untested reactions.

What Ocean Treasures adds

Original Ocean Treasures element pack with four custom materials: pearl dust, shell fragments, sea glass, kelp flakes. This is an original element pack developed for the Sandboxels mod system. It adds four selectable materials to the SM Originals menu. The code uses existing powder, wall or liquid behavior presets rather than custom scripted chemical reactions. Do not assume it includes crafting, achievements or a new game mode.

How to enable this mod

  1. Open the Sandboxels game and locate its Mod Manager.
  2. Copy the complete HTTPS address of ocean_treasures.js from the mod detail page. A filename alone is not enough when the file is hosted outside the game’s default mod directory.
  3. Enter the URL in the Mod Manager, confirm and refresh the game.
  4. Look in the SM Originals category for the four new materials. If they do not appear, remove other mods and retry.

Try these controlled experiments

Start with a blank scene and a small brush. Keep the first test isolated so you can identify the behavior of each material. Use the same brush size and a similar amount of material for a fair comparison.

  1. Pearl Dust: Place a small patch on an empty surface. Observe whether it stays fixed, piles up or flows. Then repeat next to an ordinary stone wall. Record what actually happens; appearance alone does not prove a chemical reaction.
  2. Shell Fragments: Place a small patch on an empty surface. Observe whether it stays fixed, piles up or flows. Then repeat next to an ordinary stone wall. Record what actually happens; appearance alone does not prove a chemical reaction.
  3. Sea Glass: Place a small patch on an empty surface. Observe whether it stays fixed, piles up or flows. Then repeat next to an ordinary stone wall. Record what actually happens; appearance alone does not prove a chemical reaction.
  4. Kelp Flakes: Place a small patch on an empty surface. Observe whether it stays fixed, piles up or flows. Then repeat next to an ordinary stone wall. Record what actually happens; appearance alone does not prove a chemical reaction.

Compare movement and placement

Arrange the four materials in separate columns and run the simulation for a short period. Compare how each spreads, falls or remains in place. Add a barrier to test whether the material can pass through an opening. Then reset and introduce ordinary water or sand, one at a time. These are suggested experiments, not claims that the pack implements special interactions.

Compatibility and limitations

These packs have passed source syntax and simulated element-registration checks. They have not been verified through a complete live gameplay session in every browser. If an element does not appear, verify the URL, refresh after enabling, and test without other mods. Some mods may replace existing elements or modify menu behavior.

Safe troubleshooting checklist

  • Confirm the downloaded file ends in .js and its URL responds successfully.
  • Check that the URL is HTTPS and points to the actual script, not an HTML page.
  • Disable other mods temporarily to isolate conflicts.
  • Check the browser console for JavaScript errors, without pasting private account data into support requests.
  • Keep a copy of any important scene before changing your mod list.

Next steps

Try one element at a time, compare it with a built-in material, and keep notes on the results. For general setup and compatibility guidance, read the installation and troubleshooting guides linked alongside this article.
